Lifetime just released the trailer for its upcoming Wendy Williams biopic, Wendy Williams: The Movie, and it’s juicy from beginning to end.
Williams, who will be portrayed by actress Ciera Payton, chronicles her rise through the ranks as one of the most successful shock jocks in radio. “Wendy Williams is not going anywhere,” Payton declares as she sits in front of a mic, addressing listeners over the airwaves. “I’m gonna come in like a hurricane.”
Viewers will get to relive some of her notorious celebrity interviews, like the one with Whitney Houston, and also get an honest look at her personal scandals like her admitted substance abuse issues and her ex-husband and former manager Kevin Hunter’s rampant infidelity (Williams filed for divorce from Hunter in April 2019 following allegations that he fathered a child with another woman.)

The biopic is executive produced by Williams herself, along with Will Packer and Sheila Ducksworth. Wendy Williams: The Movie premieres at 8 p.m. Saturday, January 30, on Lifetime. The biopic will be followed by a feature-length documentary about Williams’s life, where she gives a more in-depth look at her life including some of her childhood traumas.
We can’t wait to see Ms. Wendy, “tell it like it is.”
