Just in time for Mother’s Day, here’s a tender ode to Black moms we can all get behind.
Actor Trey Chaney, who’s best known as Malik “Poot” Carr from HBO’s hit series The Wire and currently stars as Kendrick in Bounce TV’s Saints and Sinners alongside Clifton Powell and Vanessa Bell Calloway, wrote a beautiful rap ode to Black moms. He has a message for Black moms, his included, who juggle the world, daily: thank you, and he’s got nothing but love for you.
“I’ve always wanted to provide an anthem for women, mothers, ladies [and] queens, representing them with love and respect,” Chaney told Black and Married With Kids.
This isn’t the first time Chaney penned his thought on parenthood – In 2012 he released a similarly positive track asking Black fathers to step up.
