Zoe Kravitz will play Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. The actress landed the role following weeks of consideration, Variety reports.
Kravitz beat out Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz and actresses Alicia Vikander and Eiza Gonzalez, who were also considered for the role.
The big casting news comes after a 2015 Nylon interview in which Kravitz opened up about being denied a role in the 2012 film, The Dark Knight Rises.
“In the last Batman movie [The Dark Knight Rises], they told me that I couldn’t get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren’t ‘going urban,'” the actress told the publication. “It was like, ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on wit chu?'”
Production is set to begin either later this year or at the top of 2020. And get excited because the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters June 2021.
