In addition to highlighting the issues that matter most to Black women in the beauty space in the areas of hair, skincare, makeup and health & wellness, the ESSENCE Beauty Carnival tour will also play host to our first-ever ESSENCE Museum of Black Beauty pop up. Black women have always set trends and taken the lead on innovative self-expression through our evolving hair journey. For our first installation, the ESSENCE Museum of Black Beauty invites you to honor the evolution of Black hair through a powerful, timely, exciting experience that will take Beauty Carnival attendees on a journey through some of the most iconic social, political and pop culture Black hair moments. The experience will also explore the transformation and continual renewal of the many signature hairstyles that Black women have created, perfected and reinvented over the years.
The Museum of Black Beauty will also showcase rare Madam C. J. Walker artifacts and highlight the role ESSENCE has played on the extraordinary Black women hair journey.
