It looks like we may soon be able to get our hands on some Adidas shoes or athletic wear that’s Colin Kaepernick-approved!
Last year, the former NFL player made major headlines for his activism efforts, particularly taking a knee during the national anthem as a form of protest against police brutality and injustice. Now Kaepernick is causing a buzz regarding his potential return to the NFL after he was dropped from his former team, the San Francisco 49ers— and if Kaepernick does return to the NFL, Adidas is hoping to sign a deal with the former quarterback.
In a recent interview at Arizona State University’s Global Sport Summit, president of Adidas North America Mark King said, “If [Kaepernick] signs on a team, we would definitely want to sign him.” King continued.
Adding, “We love athletes that have a platform to make the world a better place. If they’re an activist in a way that brings attention to something that moves the world forward, even if there’s controversy at that moment, we’re really interested in those athletes because I think it represents the world today.”
It was rumored that Kaepernick was going to try out for the Seattle Seahawks however allegedly it didn’t happen after the former football player wouldn’t say if he planned to stop his pregame protests.
We wish Kaepernick well, and hope he secures his rightful spot back on the NFL field as well as a deserving Adidas endorsement deal.
