There’s nothing like a crisp pair of white sneakers for summer and the Root’s frontman Black Thought has the answer to the age old seasonal fashion quest.
The artist has teamed up with lifestyle footwear brand Clear Weather for a sneaker commemorating the 10th anniversary of the beloved Roots’ picnic music festival.
The low-cut, sneakers feature an all-white body with slight tan accents on the heel tabs, offering a cool and simple summer-ready option.
Perhaps what’s even more clever is the packaging. The kicks come in a picnic basket complete with a picnic blanket, complimentary sneaker wipes and a signed thank you card from Black Thought himself.
The star spoke to ESSENCE about the meaning behind the project saying, “I try to live my lyrics as often as possible and one line that I really try to manifest is “infinitely go against the grain” which are lyrics from my song “What They Do”. When the opportunity presented itself, I wanted to do something fun, different and also celebrate an event we produce every year in our hometown of Philadelphia. The Roots Picnic which is in its 10th year this year.”
The limited-edition shoe is available June 1 exclusively at UBIQ and clearweatherbrand.com.
