After months of anticipation and after getting a sneak peek of new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful’s first issue of British Vogue earlier this week, we have now learned that British/Ghanian model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah is gracing the December cover! The 25-year-old model shared the gorgeous cover on Instagram and revealed her excitement for the amazing honor.
Aboah said, “Where do I even begin. Speechless, overwhelmed and grateful. Never in a million years did I think that one day I’d be on the cover of @britishvogue even more so one that marks such a monumental change and a new beginning. Thank you @edward_enninful I’m so very proud of you, you deserve this. Thank you for choosing me to be you’re first cover girl.”
On the cover, which was shot by seasoned Vogue photographer Steven Meisel, Aboah is wearing a Marc Jacobs printed dress and turban with diamond earrings. Legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath was behind Aboah’s striking beauty look of bright blue eyeshadow and red lips.
Enninful also shared the cover on his Instagram as well as the vision for his first issue. “The inspiring @adwoaaboah on the cover of my first edition of @Britishvogue. The December 2017 issue is dedicated to Great Britain and the creatives who represent it at home and abroad. Welcome to the #NewVogue,” said Enninful.
Enninful has been very vocal about bringing diversity and inclusiveness to British Vogue, and if his first cover is any indication, we can’t wait to see what else he has in store. The December issue hits newsstands on November 10.
