I was discovered: by a models convention called Model Search America. They got me signed with Wilhelmina Models who I made some great history with. I’m now with Dorothy Combs Models.
I’m currently working on: Wrapping up Curves Rock Fashion Weekend which is the premiere fashion Weekend for the curvy and plus woman in the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas. This was my first year as partner with them and we had a sold out show! Other than that, just hitting castings for modeling & auditions for acting. I was just in Essence Magazine for the July issue too!
My best feature is: My drive. If you look up the word driven in the dictionary, you should see my picture. I guess it’s the West Indian heritage in me.
I’m beautiful because: My daddy tells me so. He’s my biggest fan. Also, because I’ve been told I have dreamy eyes, full lips & I’m shaped like the number 8!
My favorite thing to wear to feel special is: A sexy dress. I love getting dressed-up. Who doesn’t like feeling like a princess?
My beauty routine is: I use Vaseline all over my face to wipe all of my make-up off. I wash my face with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser then moisturize with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF30. At night I use Kiehl’s Eye Alert and I also like to do Vaseline on my lips and the heels of my feet before I go to bed.
My health routine is: High interval training with my trainer Robert Brace of NYLean25 when I need to sculpt areas or drop some weight. Also I don’t buy soda or juice for my house so it forces me to drink a lot of water. I try to eat sultry foods in moderation. If I’ve fallen off the wagon, I do a low carb diet to get back on track. #HealthyCurves are always the key!
The best trick I use to flatter my curves is: Always make sure you have a great pair of Spanx to keep your curves neat, and a great choice of belts to accentuate your waist. Finding out what works for your body type is key.
My advice to budding plus size models is: Less is more! Less makeup, no hard hair, no extra hard poses. Give them natural beauty until you get signed. Agents want to see you as a blank canvas so they can figure out how they can market you.
I get into the zone while shooting by: Playing anything Beyonce. She always makes me feel like a sexy, confident diva.
My curvy style icon is: Tyra Banks. She took her modeling career and flipped it into a media empire. She has made strides for black women and curvy women all while embracing the skin she’s in!
