Founded by Guccio Gucci in 1920 as a shop specializing in fine leather goods, the brand quickly took off and expanded. By the 1980s, the family owned brand was scarred by bitter family disputes, ending with the murder of brand president Maurizio Gucci — by hit men hired by his wife.
In the decades since, the brand has rebounded beautifully with sumptuous bags, sophisticated gowns and glam accessories being once again coveted by lovers of luxury goods. Among this category are celebs from Keri Hilson to Mary J. Blige, who consistently wear the brand.
