Last month during ESSENCE Festival 2019, we launched our inaugural ESSENCE Fashion House–a luxe experience highlighting all things Black style. If you weren’t able to attend the three-day extravaganza at Gallier Hall in New Orleans, don’t fret, because we’re bringing Fashion House to New York City.
This summer’s event featured notables like Iman, Joan Smalls, Indya Moore and Lena Waithe, with opportunities to network with ESSENCE staffers including Fashion Director Marielle Bobo. For the New York City leg, we’ve got some epic surprises in store. Before the official start of Fashion Week (September 6), ESSENCE will kick off the festivities with a cutting-edge curation of fashion activations highlighting Black creatives across the globe. On September 5, we will host a series of panel discussions and runway presentations, including a reimagined take on the beloved Texture on the Runway hair show, sponsored by Carol’s Daughter and Creme of Nature.
But that’s not it for the festivities. ESSENCE will also launch our first-ever Best In Black Fashion Awards ceremony on September 4. The star-studded gala will highlight the best and brightest models, photographers, stylists and more. While this event is invitation-only, we are allowing our readers to get in on the fun by voting for the nominees here. Categories include Emerging Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year and the Red Carpet Maven awards, to name a few.
Registration is now open for ESSENCE Fashion House and voting for our Best In Black Fashion Awards dinner ends on Tuesday, August 27. ESSENCE Fashion House is sponsored by Target. For more information, click here.
