Along with sustainability, inclusivity was another key topic at the forefront of conversations and showcases at the inaugural ESSENCE Fashion House NYC.
Joining ESSENCE Director of Affiliate Commerce, Contessa Schexnayder, Prada Social Media guru Candace Stewart, UFCG Group founder Umindi Francis and H&M’s Head of Diversity & Inclusion Ezinne Kwubiri discussed their efforts to create a diverse and inclusive future for the fashion industry.
During the much-needed discussion, the ladies agreed that the recent push for brands to become more deliberate in their efforts to diversify should not be a trend.
Nevertheless, all were aligned with the sentiment that despite recent strides, there is still much work to be done.
In conclusion, the panelists emphasized that operating under the mantra of continuing to do the work in the midst of progress is fundamentally important in hiring the best talent, fostering innovation and supporting market growth.
