Earlier this week, Fashion 4 Development hosted its 9th annual First Ladies Luncheon at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. Over 100 international first ladies, fashion industry insiders, political influencers and diplomats gathered in support of the UN’s sustainable development efforts. The distinguished group shed light on the strides they have made to affect social change worldwide.
“It has been nearly a decade, with much to celebrate, and I am overwhelmed with the benevolence of the stakeholders and change agents,” said F4D Founder, Evie Evangelou.
Guests enjoyed food, drinks and entertainment while Evangelou and actor Aldis Hodge served as co-hosts, presenting awards to several honorees. IMAGINE co-founder Valerie Keller took home the Medal of Honor, while Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah–creators of susatinable lifestyle brand Studio 189– received the Franca Sozzani Award. “We are so incredibly honored to be here today accepting this award in the name of Franca Sozzani,” said Erwiah. “When we started, people wouldn’t take our phone calls; Franca believed in the work that we were doing.”
Founded in 2011, F4D is a private sector global platform that harnesses the power of the fashion and beauty industries in leading sustainable economic growth worldwide.
