At ESSENCE Fashion House Maxwell Osborne, one of the co-founders and designers of CFDA award-winning menswear brand, Public School, joined Tanzanian supermodel and entrepreneur Flaviana Matata in a discussion on using their platforms to provoke change.
During the conversation moderated by ESSENCE Fashion Director Marielle Bobo, the pair dropped some major gems for young creatives on making an impact in the fashion industry while advocating for social change.
Both Maxwell and Matata agreed that no matter what facet of the industry you’re in, remaining authentic is the key to finding success. It’s also imperative to identify what your core brand values are and remain true to them even during the most difficult times.
Osborne is making is mark by pushing his brand Public School into a more sustainable direction, creating less harm to our environment. Matata has used her platform as a model and effect change in her native Tanzania, providing scholarships to underprivileged girls through her namesake nonprofit organization.
