New York Fashion Week kicked off last night with The Heart Truth’s Fall 2011 show. Nigel Barker, Jay Alexander, Jay Manuel, Matthew McConaughey and Bill Rancic sat front row as Eve, Suzanne Somers, Dania Ramirez, Gayle King, and others worked crimson gowns down the runway.
The Heart Truth’s show began in 2003 to raise awareness about the dangers of heart health for women, and every year a who’s who of celebrities participate…
This year’s highlights? Garcelle Beauvais in a rosette peppered Monique Lhuillier; Laila Ali flaunting her baby bump in a maroon off-shoulder Grecian gown by A Pea in the Pod; Patti Labelle channeling her inner diva in a kimono sleeved creation by Zang Toi; and Taraji P. Henson sizzling while walking to Michael Jackson in a sequin addled strapless by Naeem Khan. After the show Taraji admitted, “I wasn’t ever quite aware of the alarming numbers heart disease is killing — especially women of color. [I’m happy to] use my celebrity to help spread the word.”
