There is something so amazing about a well tailored jacket, a colorful bow tie, shiny oxfords. It’s no surprise that in the last few years many menswear staples have been shared by both genders. As you see from my past NYFW looks, I can go from very girly to a head-to-toe masculine look in a snap!
Today I am wearing a vintage men’s vest with vintage harem pants and a man’s hat from H&M. For shoes, I chose my silver Ruffian Lucite platforms. The way I wear my hats coupled with a scarf, is a trademark of mine. I tie a leopard scarf into a turban, then I add a hat and tilt it to the side! I love that it instantly gives the whole look attitude. I always dress in a way to evoke a feeling, a mood. Today it was downtown city, cool guy!
After a busy day at the ESSENCE office, I headed to Lincoln Center for the Narciso Rodriguez show. Relaxed, elegant dresses and innovative colorblocking took center stage. He’s a genius, that Narciso. He even colorblocked the models hair with green, orange or blue dye! How cool! I like that he showed that you can look sexy without wearing a skintight dress. I love a bodycon froc as much as the next girl, but it’s nice to know you have options.
Narciso’s creatively colorblocked strappy heels included both graphic prints and solid colors. I have seen colorblocked footwear at other shows this week, but no one took it to this level! All in all, it was a fabulous show! Narciso, honey, when will you be having your sample sale?
