It’s no secret that H&M loves a collab. From Moschino to Kenzo, the large retailer has managed to create with some of the most luxe brands however, nothing has come from South Africa.
Well, that’s all about to change as H&M just announced their first-ever collaboration with South African brand, Mantsho. The new collection will feature edgy African-inspired prints celebrating the elegance and vibrancy of Africa. Pieces include flowy, easy fitting cuts, frills, and gathers in a range of colors from blues, browns to blacks, hues of pink, and amber reds. There are also Afrocentric accessories that include shoes, earrings, and clutches.
“This is my love letter to the world from Africa,” says Mantsho’s head of design, Palesa Mokubung. “I hope customers around the world will enjoy this ensemble of my stand-out pieces from my last three collections.”
The Mantsho label, meaning “black is beautiful” in Mokubung’s native Sesotho language, was established in 2004 and has since graced runways in the U.S., Greece, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Botswana, and Senegal.
The collection will be available in the select U.S stores around the country, and online at hm.com beginning August 15th
