Model, actor and author Liris Crosse along with Indya Moore sat down at Essence Fashion House over the weekend to talk about inclusiveness and compassion in an industry not neccesarily made for them.
Crosse shared a heartfelt story to festival goers in New Orleans about her experience in the fashion industry and why she felt emboldened to change the narrative of curvy women, proving that curvy women love themselves and want to show off their body.
She also reminded the audience that the average size of women in America is a 16, and it’s time fashion designers start marketing to the majority of the nation.
Moore, who stars as Angel Evangelista on the hit FX series Pose, also used the panel discussion to remind us all of the very dark reality for many Black trans women.
Sadly, the rate of violence on the trans community, in particular trans women of color, continues to rise.
Moore ended the conversation merely asking all of the attendees to open their hearts for more compassion.
Essence Festival continues through Sunday.
