Our jaws are still on the floor after watching the season finale of HBO’s
Insecure that aired Sunday night. And while we’re still trying to reconcile with everything that transpired between Issa Rae and her love insterest Lawrence, who is played by actor Jay Ellis, we’ll try to focus on more pleasant subjects like how dope the stars always look on the hit show.
Well, there’s costume designer
Ayanna James to thank for that. The Los Angeles-based stylist is behind all the stylish ensembles spotted on the series and it’s all pretty clear that James uses clothes to help in the storytelling of each episode. Just like renonwed stylist Patricia Fields created narrative in her wardrobe choices for
Sex And The City, it’s clear that James is just as thoughtful in her style selections.
We’re particularily drawn to all the fun graphic T-shirts that James has incorporated into several scenes. In the season finale Rae rocked a “Giver of No Dambs” design that is from a
collection of tongue-in-cheek gear by the writer Luvvie Ajayi. There was also a “Spiritual Gangster” tank, from the company of the same name, that made an amazing apperance. And who can forget that
Beyoncé Formation-inspired tee by PopAesthete?
If you’re as anamored with these dope duds as we are, here a rundown of where you can sang one for yourself. At least we’ll have something to remind us the awesomness of
Insecure while we patiently wait for season two.
