It’s already hard enough finding clothes that fit our shape and curves just right, but sometimes it’s also difficult finding shoes that fit, particularly styles for wider feet or boots for larger calves. Apparently shoe brand Jeffrey Campbell heard our silent wishes and has teamed up with curvy model La’shaunae Steward to create a capsule collection with plus size women in mind!
On Instagram, Jeffrey Campbell announced the upcoming collaboration with Steward and revealed that they are releasing a campaign in a few weeks. The brand also stated, “[Five] shoes made to fit your every curve. When we say our shoes are made for everybody we truly mean everyBODY.”
So how exactly did this collaboration come about? In an interview with Refinery29, Steward said,“My great friend Sanam Sindh is the creative director for the brand. I was telling her how a lot of the boots don’t fit thicker legs, and as my friend — who knows how the fashion world doesn’t celebrate fat brown women enough — she saw this as an opportunity for me, an under-appreciated curve model!”
Steward, who’s also a body positivity advocate, hopes this will also encourage more inclusivity in the industry. She further said, “[I want to see] girls who actually look like me in high-fashion and walking the runways. Representation is so important.”
Although a release date for the five-piece capsule collection hasn’t been announced yet, we’ll keep you posted when these sure-to-be-coveted shoes drop.
