H&M knows how to throw a party and they proved that point once again Wednesday night in New York City at the launch of its lastest fashion collaboration with Kenzo.
But this wasn’t your average fashion fete — let’s just say it was extra Black. Not only were there plenty of beautiful brown models — including Selena Forrest, Cindy Bruna, Ana Sofia Martins — working the runway, but the show also featured a full drumline and was capped off with a performance by Ice Cube.
One word: Lit! Just look…
The designers behind Kenzo, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (who also helm the brand Opening Ceremony), tapped lengedary photogrpaher Jean-Paul Goude to direct the epic shindig. You mostly likely know Goude’s work from his iconic images of model/singer Grace Jones — and his more recent (#BreakTheInternet) work with reality star/businesswoman Kim Kardashian.
Speaking of celebts, they were out in full force Wednesday night , like Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, celebrity stylist June Ambrose, Roario Dawson, Chance the Rapper and Iman.
But the real stars of the show were the head-turning, over-the-top deisgns that will be hitting 270 H&M stores worldwide and hm.com on November 3. The zebra and leopard print mashups emblazoned on everything from tent dresses to skin-tight leggings aren’t for wall flowers, but will certainly be filling the closets of fearless fashionistas from near and far.
While we wait for the collection to hit shelves, here’s everything you missed from the mind-blowing Kenzo x H&M launch party…
