Kim Kardashian-West released a statement this Monday via Instagram that she will be changing the name of her latest business venture.
The 38-year-old mother of four announced that her shapewear company, “Kimono” will be undergoing a name change after facing backlash for cultural appropriation.
“I am always listening, learning and growing – I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me,” Kim wrote on her Instagram.
The Kimono which serves as a traditional Japenese garment amongst other things tend to not involve lingerie, hence the immediate issue the name brought. Kim K who normally stands firm in her cultural appropriation said just last week that she wasn’t changing the name but, it looks like she has had a change of heart.
“I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name, I will be in touch soon. Thank you for your understanding and support always,” the reality star’s statement concluded.
