It’s with a heavy heart that we watched Barack and Michelle Obama exit the White House for the final time on Friday morning before the inauguration. The President and First Lady stepped out with grace — and in style — to greet their successors, Donald and Melania Trump.
Mrs. Obama, always the consummate fashion darling, chose a look that aligns with the celebrated fashion legacy she leaves behind. Although more subdue then the eye-catching and dazzling designs we love seeing her in, Michelle still stole our hearts in a red and black fit-and-flare tea-length dress with a thin black belt.
She was able to up the glam factor a bit more with a matching overcoat. A pair of black suede heels and diamond studs rounded out the ensemble. As for her hair, Mrs. Obama kept it simple with a sleek low bun.
While Michelle might be saying “goodbye,” we will simply say “see you later” since we have no doubt her sartorial prowess will live on.
