The Pirelli calendar has become one of the most anticipated in the fashion industry. This year, they’re taking things up a notch with the release of their 2019 edition which features none other than dancer extraordinaire, Misty Copeland!
The calendar, which initially launched as a fine art calendar and featured models, has expanded over the years to include actors and actresses, writers, philanthropists and more. This year’s edition also features Alexander Wang, making it the very first time the calendar has featured a fashion designer.
Shot by photographer Albert Watson, Copeland stars in the calendar as a dancer who wants to join the Opera Ballet in Paris and works as a striptease artist waiting for her big break.
And of course, we can’t forget last year’s 2018 Pirelli calendar!
The 2018 edition featured an all-Black cast that included Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Diddy, Whoopi Goldberg, models Adwoa Aboah and Slick Woods. It was also styled by British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful.
