Musical performances and celebrities aside, it’s usually the clothing that garners the most attention during New York Fashion Week. After all, it’s the major lewks that attract showgoers, since industry insiders get a first look at next season’s trends and cult-worthy buys. At the Brandon Maxwell show, however, the designer’s expertly casted models stole the show with their energetic walks, sleek cornrows and beaming smiles. The pièce de résistance? Pastel durags that framed their faces.
Guests were surprised with a nostalgia-filled presentation, as models strutted to pop classics such as, Madonna’s “Like A Virgin.” Guests couldn’t help but sway in their seats as models danced happily down the runway.
Maxwell debuted his Spring/Summer 2020 collection in Brooklyn, taking a slight turn from his usual glitzy gowns and adding denim, jersey dresses and off-duty separates to his offerings.
