If there’s one event that’s most anticipated in the fashion industry, it’s most certainly the Met Gala. Numerous celebrities and fashion designers attend the Met Gala every May in show-stopping looks, making the event’s red carpet one of the most fashionable ever.
Although the 2018 Met Gala is six months away, they just announced that red carpet queen Rihanna will host the event! Rihanna will serve as one of the cohosts alongside designer Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney, wife of George Clooney. Since attending her first Met Gala in 2007, Rihanna has attended seven Met Galas and performed at two so the singer is definitely a fitting choice for the role.
In addition to the announcement of the hosts, next year’s theme was also revealed: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” We can only imagine how stars will interpret the religious theme in the name of fashion.
Each year, the Met Gala is held as a fundraising gala to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, and Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has been serving as the chair of the event since 1995.
The 2018 Met Gala will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 7, 2018.
