NBA basketball star Russell Westbrook has become known for his stylish off-the-court outfits over the years, and now he’s taken his sartorial talents to launch his own fashion line. This past weekend, Westbrook debuted Honor the Gift in Oklahoma City, the home of his basketball team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“I’m thankful for my humble beginnings in OKC,” said Westbrook on his own Instagram. “I’m thankful for the man above for allowing me achieve amazing things in my life. All of which has led me to create my own brand, Honor The Gift.”
In an interview with Vogue, Westbrook explained his inspiration behind the line. “I’ve been conceptualizing the idea [for] many years and felt it’s time for me to launch my own brand with my own messages,” said Westbrook. “Honor the Gift is a brand of self-belief and dedication to honor the gift ‘he’ has given you, shaped into different product offerings that represent a personal promise to challenge all and achieve greatness no matter the hardship.”
This isn’t Westbrook’s first foray into fashion. The basketball player previously teamed up with Barneys New York on various capsule collections.
Although all of pieces sold out at Westbrook’s pop-up in Oklahoma City, the full collection, which features neon t-shirts, striped sweatpants and more, will be available on November 22 at honorthegift.co.
