Serena Williams joined Advertising Week New York for its four-day-conference Tuesday afternoon. The tennis star is fresh off presenting her S by Serena Autumn/Winter 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week. Williams also holds a venture firm, “Serena Ventures,” where she is currently investing in companies like Daily Harvest, Lola, and Colugo.
“We are literally just starting,” said Williams. “I just got into New York Fashion Week, how do I get into Milan?” For Serena Ventures, Williams has dedicated her company to empowering change and demanding inclusivity. “We want to stand up for what we feel is right, and we want to empower people to stand up for what they feel is right as well,” said Williams. “My main goal is to get rid of the word exclusive, and bring in the word inclusive.”
Fresh off her NYFW debut, the 23 time Grand Slam winner is ready to take her clothing line to the next level. When discussing the aesthetic of her new line, Williams concluded with, “Changing the way you feel when you put on our outfit, you want to feel sexy, you want to feel confident, and you want to feel sure.”
