The U.S. Open will return to New York on August 27 and
Serena Williams is ready to slay the tennis court once again!
In 2002, Williams donned a matte latex catsuit by Puma (along with
bleach-blonde hair). In 2004, she hit the court wearing a Nike denim skirt and a studded tank top. In 2014, she dominated in a leopard print dress.
This year, Williams has teamed up with highly sought-after fashion designer Virgil Abloh (
recently appointed Creative Director at Louis Vuitton), for her US Open outfits, to be aptly titled, ‘The Queen Collection.’
The looks are body-hugging and asymmetrical, with black and white colorways, while Abloh’s signature typography stamping appears on sleeves and on the collection footwear.
“With Serena, we have one of our generation’s most powerful, inspiring athletes as the muse,” says Abloh. “I was trying to embody her spirit and bring something compelling and fresh to tennis… the dress is feminine, but combines her aggression.”
Most importantly, customers can shop these unique designs on the Nike.com website. Prices for the collection range from $130 – $900.
