Solange and her cultural hub Saint Heron are teaming up with IKEA on an interior design line. In an announcement, Saint Heron shared that the creative collaboration will explore “architectural and design objects with multifunctional use.”
In a press release, IKEA Range & Supply’s head of design Marcus Engman said: “Contemporary art is a huge part of people’s [lives] today. At IKEA we are curious about the creative space in between architecture, design, art, and music and how that could come alive in the homes of the many people. This is what we want to explore together with Saint Heron.”
IKEA revealed the exciting collaboration at their Democratic Design Days event last week. IKEA also divulged that they are collaborating with Adidas on an upcoming collection to explore “how sport and wellness can be a natural part of our life at home.”
This also isn’t the first time the Swedish furniture retailer has collaborated with a big name. Last year, IKEA selected Off-White founder and newly appointed artistic director for Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear Virgil Abloh to design a collection as well. Abloh’s line for IKEA includes chairs, rugs, a coffee table and more.
While we don’t know any additional details about Solange’s Saint Heron collaboration with IKEA, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime, we’ll be saving our coins…
