For the past few years we’ve seen an increasingly growing interest and investment in the re-branding, re-positioning and expansion of the plus-size fashion market. From top designers such as Christian Siriano, Byron Lars, and now Tracy Reese, major brands are currently and actively pursuing the plus-size consumer.
The ability to now ‘shop your size’ without feeling shamed is a worldwide phenomenon, and retailers are aware of the necessity to cater to all customers. Designer Tracy Reese (via her secondary line, Plenty by Tracy Reese), has recently joined forces with plus-size powerhouse, Gwynnie Bee. Of the collaboration, Reese says, “This is such an uplifting experience! It’s a perfect happening because not only did we get to extend sizes for TR, but we were able to do it for Plenty (TR) too, through Gwynnie Bee.”
Reese expressed how Gwynnie Bee’s technical expertise allowed her to be able to reach out to their customer base for this ongoing collaboration. And for those not familiar with Gwynnie Bee, the design name was inspired by a children’s book series based on the strong-will and determination of a unique seven-year-old character named Gwynstance; “…the character’s uniqueness is something that carries over to the characteristics of the Gwynnie Bee woman,” says Founder and CEO, Christine Hunsicker.
Since 2011, Hunsicker’s mission has been to tackle the limited access that plus-size women have to trendy fashion, and some of the key items for this collaboration include the ‘Camo Dress’ and the ‘Camo Jacket.’
Items sized 10-32 are currently available to rent via Closet.GwynnieBee.com.
