The iconic Ikea bag is getting a major upgrade.
Virgil Abloh, the man behind cool-kid streetwear brand Off-White and Kanye West’s former creative director is giving the carry-all the high-fashion revamp we didn’t know it needed (but definitely appreciate).
Ikea took to Instagram to announce the news with an image of Abloh working on the reiteration saying,
“Some of you guessed it! @virgilabloh @off____white prototyping a fresh take on the FRAKTA bag in IKEA’s very own prototype shop in Älmhult.”
Much like the original version, the new and improved bag has a roomy silhouette with the word “sculpture” emblazoned on the side. Some versions feature a red tape trim and yellow straps.
It makes sense that Abloh was tapped for the project, as the designer has been very vocal about his love for the world of furniture design.
Ikea hasn’t confirmed when the new look will be available, but it looks as if our trips to the furniture giant just got infinitely more stylish.
