The world stopped early in 2019 as the news of Nipsey Hussle’s untimely death shook us all to the core. Now, just a few months shy of the 1-year anniversary of his passing, the beloved entertainer has received a deserving accolade on music’s biggest night.
Standing strong with Hussle’s grandmother, brother, sister and daughter at her side, the love of his life and mother of his only son, Lauren London, accepted Hussle’s very first Grammy Award on his behalf.
The late rap icon won the won for Best Rap Performance of his song Racks In The Middle featuring Roddy Ricch & Hit-Boy during the non-televised Grammy Awards pre-show. “Nip did it not just for the awards but, for the people,” she said. “And God allowed him to speak his truth, give us wisdom and something that we will forever be able to live with.”
Hussle’s grandmother also took to the podium to thank everyone for their love and support, followed by his brother, Samiel Asghedom, who thoughtfully reflected on Hussle’s Grammy nomination from the previous year.
