Luke James’ schedule is about to get a lot busier thanks to Beyoncé.
The R&B singer has been tapped to open Beyoncé’s “Mrs. Carter Show” world tour in Europe from April 24th through May 29th. Paris, France, is the first stop for the duo, who will also be performing at the ESSENCE Festival on Sunday, July 7.
This is Luke’s second time touring with Beyoncé. The New Orleans native opened for her shows at Atlantic City’s Revel last year. Beyoncé raved about Luke’s talent in a statement released this morning: “Luke James is a gifted singer and songwriter and what he does on stage with his pure falsetto is incredible. I am excited to have him join the tour and to introduce this soulful singer to an audience in Europe that will be discovering a true star.”
And a true star he is. Luke snagged a Best R&B Performance Grammy nomination earlier this year for his “I Want You” single and he was recognized at the 2012 Soul Train Awards in the Best New Artist category. In addition to his successful music career, he’ll make his acting debut in the upcoming Langston Hughes remake entitled Black Nativity.
