Welcome to 95 Live, where once a week we’ll revisit a day in music history from — you guessed it — 1995, the year the Essence Festival premiered. Today, we look at “Water Runs Dry”.
It’s true: Most good things that came from the 90s came from Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, and Boyz II Men’s “Water Runs Dry” is no exception. The super producer penned this hit for II, the Philly quartet’s second studio album. It reached number 2 on the Billboard charts, and it’s reported that several couples on the verge of breaking up decided to give it one more shot after hearing this song. (That last point isn’t true, but it’s fun to think about.)
The video, full of more 90s goodness, has more white-on-white sets than, well, the Essence Festival. We love it.
