Unbeknownst to most, #EssenceFest performers, Kendrick Lamar and Bilal have a great working relationship. Bilal was in the studio for most of the recording sessions for Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, To Pimp a Butterfly and the Compton rapper respects his opinion and his impeccable ear. Now, it seems that the two have taken their friendship from behind the scenes to in front of the mic as a snippet of a new song, Money Over Love, surfaced online.
In the two minute clip, Bilal sings a melodic chorus about disproportioned priorities before Kendrick hits listeners with an intense verse with similar content to TPAB. Though the full version has yet to be released, these two may have created something too great to tease us with, but for now, we’ll have to wait until Bilal’s new album releases on June 30th. The song is listed on the In Another Life tracklist, but not available for purchase just yet.
