Some of the biggest names in music have been taking the time to publicly show Hip Hop’s newest princess, Cardi B, plenty of love following the recent release of her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, and 2018 ESSENCE Festival performer Jill Scott is one of the latest to weigh in with her thoughts.

A songstress, actress, author and overall entertainer of many talents, Miss Jilly from Philly has continuously remained a standout artist in a lane all her own throughout the course of her nearly 20-year career. Her carefree —and often filter-free—song lyrics give Black women the courage to stand tall and unapologetic in our own truths, our own strengths, and our own vulnerabilities.
So, naturally, it’s no surprise that the 46-year-old songbird has nothing but good things to say about Cardi’s new release.
She took to her Instagram page to show her support for the mom-to-be, revealing that she’s been a fan of Cardi since her Love & Hip Hop reality show days. “I liked @iamcardib brazen, authentic attitude from Love and Hip,” she wrote in the caption for the post. “And I love this album. The whole damn thing!”
From one fearless, authentic woman to another!
Be sure to grab your tickets to see Jill light up the stage as part of The Roots curation with Erykah Badu at the 2018 ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans this July!
