Released in early March 2018, Bible of Love hears Snoop team up with a host of Gospel and soul music heavyweights, including Fred Hammond, Patti LaBelle, John P. Kee, Faith Evans, Tye Tribbett, The Clark Sisters, Charlie Wilson and more. The Grammy-nominated entertainer recently opened up in detail about the driving force behind the album during a powerful conversation as a guest on the Hollywood Confidential panel series in Las Vegas.
Speaking candidly during the discussion, which was held just ahead of the 2018 Stellar Awards and moderated by Hollywood Confidential’s Steve Jones, Snoop shared that his decision to create the project stemmed from a desire to bring more light to the world in the midst of constant turbulence and negative energy.
“With all of the negativity happening in the world right now, I figured it was time to do something positive to bring people together,” he said. “I did my share of bringing dark moments. Now it’s time to bring the light.”
The proud father and husband also revealed that the album is dedicated to the memory of his grandmother, whom he says never got to hear his music while she was alive because she disapproved of its “secular” nature.
Gospel Music favorites Mary Mary and Marvin Sapp, who are also featured on the album, were on hand to join Snoop for the conversation. While all three artists agreed that lending their talents to the project was an opportunity they were happy to oblige, Snoop also acknowledged the role he believes God played in helping things come together.
“They didn’t know my spirit, or where I was coming from,” he told the audience. “But I believe God spoke to both Mary Mary & Marvin, and they saw the God in me. They knew I was one of HIS own.”
