Entertainment executive Hassan Smith, who’s the Road Manager for John Legend Inc., and his new bride Walkitria Smith pose hand in hand on their wedding day.
The lovely bride, who rocked a gorgeous Marchesa trumpet gown on the big day, is a doctor who specializes in family medicine.
“Walkitria and I met on August 4th 2012 in Norfolk, Virginia,” the groom tells us. “John Legend and I were campaigning for President Obama and Walkitria was volunteering for voter registration. I noticed her from a distance. My first thought was how stunning she looked. After a few minutes, I decided to walk over to her. I introduced myself and we automatically had great chemistry. We exchanged business cards and the relationship started from there.”
“To be the bride was a whirlwind, I felt there were so many moving parts around me that I was oblivious to,” says Walkitria. “I was so caught up in Hassan and our love for each other. The feeling was being of the world but not in it for that moment in time.”
Hassan and his groomsmen were dressed to impress in Gucci. Does one of the fellas look familiar? If you guessed “John Legend,” you would be correct.
Hassan and Legend have been close close friends and business partners for many years.
The couple chose to become husband and wife inside the lovely Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta. We just love their decadent ceremony decor.
“To be the groom to this bride was surreal,” says Hassan. “I was always optimistic I would find my soul mate and God blessed me 10 times over with this woman. My family and friends all adore her! The process and wedding was a dream come true.”
“My favorite part of the wedding was watching Walkitria appear as she began to walk down the aisle to me,” says the groom. “It was at that moment I felt at ease and blessed for all God has done for me.”
Jade Lee Events and her team provided full service wedding planning, floral and event design for the occasion and judging from these spectacular photos, it was a job well done!
“What I love most about Walkitria is how supportive and loving she is,” Hassan tells us. “She is smart, funny, witty, has great family values and drop-dead gorgeous.” He’s a lucky man!
Legend serenaded the newlyweds with his version of Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet.”
“What I love most about Hassan is that he is handsome, confident, assertive, family-oriented and the most giving person I know,” says the bride.
The bride is from Mobile, Alabama and the groom hails from Boston.
The bride, 32, and the groom, 38, now call Atlanta home.
Legend introduced the couple, sang for their first dance and served as a groomsman.
As expected, the couple’s reception was star-studded. Singer Estelle sang her smash hit “American Boy” for the bride and groom and friend of the groom DJ D-Nice spun the party tunes.
And the award for best wedding entertainment ever goes to…..Hassan and Walkitria!
All of the couple’s close friends and family were on hand to help them celebrate their union. Here, Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen pose for the cameras.
Videographer David Hill from Together Forever Films captured the magic of the evening on film. Plus, we hear the star-studded guest list included Common, AJ Calloway, Janell Snowden, Elizabeth Radler and the President of Alexander McQueen North America. Join us as we congratulate Hassan and Walkitria on their union. The couple are currently honeymooning in the Maldives.
