We’re well into 2023, and one of the things we’ll be celebrating all year long, as always, is Black love. And while we always enjoy keeping up with the cuteness of some of our favorite pairs, there are some new couplings happening this year. Some have already made it official while others are still playing coy, but we’re excited about all these boo’d up Black folks. The beloved DJ made things Instagram official with former My Wife and Kids actress Jennifer Freeman. He posted a photo of them together, in matching black by the way, with the caption, “A song worth singing.” She shared a similar image, one of the pair kissing, with the caption, “My love.” The Club Quarantine creator was previously married to actress Malinda Williams, and Freeman was also previously married, sharing a daughter with former NBA player Earl Watson.
After being spotted traveling with the rapper in late 2022, Angela Simmons and Yo Gotti celebrated the new year by going Instagram official. Whatever you might think of the pair, one can’t deny that Gotti’s powers of manifestation are nothing to play with. In 2016, he shared his crush on the reality TV personality in his hit, “Down in the DM.”
People had plenty to say about the newly minted relationship of entrepreneur Lori Harvey and actor Damson Idris. However, unbothered is the best way to describe the couple. They cozied up at her birthday party and have been seen holding hands out and about ever since.
Actress Storm Reid made it red carpet official when she stepped out with boyfriend Shedeur Sanders for the premiere of her new film Missing on January 12. Shedeur is the son of college football coach and legendary footballer Deion Sanders. She said of her beau, “He’s super sweet, super talented. I’m just glad to have him here supporting me.”
Right before the Christmas holiday, the Oscar-winning actress made it known that she’d found love with a familiar name and face, Selema Masekela. He’s a TV host and son of late, legendary South African musician Hugh Masekela.
You know it’s real when they see you in your headscarf! After being spotted hanging out together in the summer, the NFL star let on that the two are an item. He shared a screenshot of his face after she missed his Facetime call, and in the corner of the photo was an image of the star protecting her edges while asleep. They haven’t confirmed or denied anything since then, but we’d love to see them hit a red carpet together in 2023!
The rapper and actress has found love with another actor and rapper. She made it Instagram official with Anthony Strong, also known as 5ive Mics. She said of him on Instagram, “Thank You For Being Fearless and Expressing Your Love For Me The Way You Do, I Appreciate it & Reciprocate.”
