The standup star is back.

After spending 2023 recovering from a significant health crisis, 2024 was a triumphant year for Jamie Foxx. In addition to doing his first standup since 2003’s Unleashed with Netflix’s Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, returning to his show Beat Shazam and cutting a healthy and happy figure, he got to walk his oldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, down the aisle in September 2024. Sharing huge moments with his girls, Corinne and Anelise, is one of the Oscar winner’s greatest joys.

“I used to be a guy that was dedicated to the Hollywood [mentality of] ‘Let’s have fun all the time.’ But now everything I do I consistently think of my two daughters,” he’s said.

“[Balancing] party Jamie Foxx and family Jamie Foxx — it’s been a big battle,” he said in a separate chat when promoting his memoir, Act Like You Got Some Sense, in 2021. “I remember taking Corinne to a party when she was 13. I liked to invite them because I was able to introduce them to artists — let them see them in the raw form. [Have them] meet Uncle Leo and have Drake hold her as a kid [because] what it did was it allowed them to see not only the artist but also the person behind it and the hard work. I made mistakes, not being on time, I learned that in order to parent I had to put discipline on myself. But I wanted them to see me at work so they know what I’m doing.”

And not only does he let them see him at work, he makes them a part of it. They are not only his consistent sidekicks at red carpet premieres, awards shows, and other events, but he also has integrated daughter Corinne in his projects, including being an executive producer on his show Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! and his DJ on the Fox hit Beat Shazam. And while Anelise hasn’t starred in his projects or produced them just yet, she inherited his musical talent, playing guitar at her recent birthday party. And she did make a big appearance in his latest standup, playing an original song with her dad after he revealed she was at his bedside when he was in the hospital fighting for his life, willing him back to life with music.

“She’s 14. I didn’t want her to see me like that. But she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar, and she says, ‘I know what my daddy needs,'” he recalled. “They said when she was playing, my vitals went down. The nurses at the nurses’ station were baffled. Like, ‘Wow, what did they give him?’ They rushed into the room, and she said, ‘Ssh. I got him.’”

“Do you know what I found out? That God was in that guitar,” he added. “That’s my spiritual defibrillator.”
