As time progresses, Chlöe Bailey’s popularity continues to rise. Last year, she released three successful singles – “Treat Me,” “Surprise,” and the Latto-assisted “For the Night” – as was featured on several others. In her quest to conquer 2023, the multi-talented artist returns with a brand new single titled “Pray It Away.”
The song comes just a day after the Georgia native first teased this new release, posting its artwork to her Instagram account. In “Pray It Away,” Bailey discusses the negative feelings associated with a failed relationship, and her intense thoughts of retaliation. “Maybe I should go and take it to church, Ooh, away ’cause I want that nigga to hurt / But I’ma just pray it away before I give him what he deserves first,” she says.
Chlöe’s debut album, In Pieces, is set to arrive in March, although an exact date has not yet been confirmed. While this is the Grown-ish star’s first solo album, she released two albums with her sister Halle – 2018’s The Kids Are Alright and 2020’s Ungodly Hour. In a previous interview with ESSENCE, Bailey spoke to what audiences should expect from her debut. “It’s everything that I’ve been going through, all the tearing down, people underestimating, telling me I can’t do it — all of those things have gone into the music,” she said.
In addition to “Pray It Away,” our list of new music includes releases from Kari Faux, Bas, Popcaan, and more. Take a listen.
