In addition to being known for her hair-raising vocals, you can always expect something new and beautiful when it comes to Grammy-nominated singer Ledisi’s locs. When the R&B veteran hit the stage at the 2018 BET Awards to help pay tribute to Anita Baker we just knew she would bring it, and of course, she did.
For the monumental occasion, the singer rocked a beautiful braided high ponytail that reached her waist and also had the perfect hint of burgundy in the light. But what really caught our attention were the shaved sides, and back, of Ledisi’s ‘do. From the looks of it, she may be slowly transitioning away from her infamous locs.
While many believe the only way to transition from locs is with a big chop, that is actually not always the case. Shaving various sections of the hair, or even combing them out (both of which Ledisi seem to be doing), are options that allow you to hold onto some of your hair during the transition.
In an interview several years ago with MadameNoire, Ledisi reminded us that she is not her hair. And while fun, her locs are simply an accessory that accentuates her voice. “I am the face. I am the voice. I am Ledisi. Don’t ever forget who you are inside,” she shared.
Locs or not, we love this beauty and are excited to see what style she rocks next.
