Textures & Hues, Amazon’s latest curated shop recently launched on the commerce platform and we couldn’t be more excited. If you’re not familiar, Textures & Hues, from what we’ve gathered, is Amazon’s one-stop shop for all things natural hair.
On its homepage are beautiful images of Black women in a myriad of complexions and shades showing off their natural crowns and #BlackGirlMagic. Perhaps more impressive than the overall look and feel of the site, which can be found by searching Amazon.com, are the diverse product offerings.
Featuring everything from shampoos and conditioners to oils and serums, Amazon has cleverly organized its shop in the following categories: wash-and-go needs, hair type, brands and top products. Instead of heading to your local beauty store in your satin bonnet to purchase conditioners, gels and curling custards, you can now do it from the comfort of your home.
Oh, but that’s not the best part. Encroaching on YouTube’s hair tutorial territory, Amazon even highlights a few naturalistas suggesting their favorite products and sharing tips on how to achieve certain looks, like the ‘frohawk or side-swept waves.
You can also interact with Toni, Carmen and India—the trio of beauty influencers behind @mynaturalsistas —on the impressive platform. Plus, Amazon makes it easy to shop from trusted natural hair care brands, including Carol’s Daughter, Eden Bodyworks, Miss Jessie’s, ORS, African Pride and Cantu just to name a few. By extending its product range to serve women of color who have kinky, coily or curly hair textures, Amazon just inched that much closer to becoming a one-stop shopping destination.
Of course it’s too early to discern Amazon’s intent with buying into the natural hair care market, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction of massive retailers valuing Black women as consumers and catering to our needs. And members of the natural hair community took to Twitter to voice just how much they’re here for it.
Whether you just started on your natural hair journey or your strands are still relaxed, head over to Amazon’s Texture’s & Hues for a healthy dose of style inspiration and to add more products to your beauty repertoire.
