Husband and wife duo Kahran and Regis Bethencourt have documented Blackness for quite a while. Specializing in capturing life’s most magical moments, the two of them have made waves as the owners of CreativeSoul Photography.
Having mastered the art of capturing #blackgirlmagic over the past seven years, their work has been featured on tons of media sites.
Now, the two have struck a six-figure deal with St. Martin’s Press for the project titled Halo which will highlight the beauty of children of color. The book will also focus on empowerment which has long been the foundation of the couple’s work.
The book will be divided into three sections, past, present and future. Kahran also explained that the two — who wed in 2011 — also want to change the discussions surrounding the complex history of the African diaspora. “Lots of times, people think our history starts with slavery. What about when we were kings and queens,” she said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
You can expect to see Halo on shelves and online in 2019. For more information check out the couple’s website.
