Every time Uzo Aduba hits the red carpet we can’t help but get excited. For the Emmy Awards Vanessa Heshima of Exclusive Artists Management created a life-giving, soft chignon that instantly glammed her look. We also caught up with makeup artist Janice Kinjo for SheaMoisture Cosmetics who created a look that embodied the epitome of classic beauty. “Long, lush lashes enhanced her subtly smokey eyes and defined brows, while I kept the rest of the makeup extra dewy and natural for a flawless finish,” says Kinjo.
To get her complete look, follow the steps below.
Get Her Hair:
Step 1: Beginning with damp hair, carefully blow-dry the hair straight.
Step 2: Prep hair with heat protectant spray and then curl the hair using a 1” clip barrel from T3’s Convertible Collection, alternating the directions of the curls.
Step 3: Pin each curl and allow to set.
Step 4: Moving to the back of the head, take 1 1⁄2 inch sections and alternate between the 1” clip barrel and the 1.25” Twirl 360 Curling Iron, pinning each curls as you move along.
Step 5: To smooth the edges around hairline and nape, flat iron using a not-so-hot iron. Heshima used the T3 SinglePass 2 flat iron.
Step 6: Once the curls are cooled, removed the pins and let the waves fall. Gently comb through the waves with a wide toothcomb.
Step 7: To finish the look, use a Bungee Ponytail Holder to wrap the hair around and pin in place on the lower back of the head.
Get Her Makeup:
Step 1: Apply SheaMoisture Sheer Liquid Foundation in Montego Toffee to highlight the under-eye area, T-Zone and bridge of the nose. Then, apply the shade in Ka’u Brown Blaze for a subtle contour before blending both shades with Canoa Espresso for a seamless finish.
Step 2: To set foundation, apply SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Pressed Powder in Yala Golden, focusing on the high parts of the face. Then, apply SheaMoisture Perfecting Face Powder Duo in Deep to the contours of the face, setting the deeper-toned foundation.
Step 3: Next, apply SheaMoisture Lip/Cheek Balm in Avignon Rose as a base before setting with SheaMoisture Mineral Blush in Annecy Maroon for a natural, rosy flush on the cheeks.
Step 4: Using a wet eyeshadow brush, apply the matte brown shade from SheaMoisture Rich Earth Palette in combination with SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Claudia to create a soft, smokey eye. Then, add a pop of shimmer to the inner corner of the eyes with SheaMoisture Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Cassandra. Lastly, coat lashes with SheaMoisture Lengthening Mascara in Black for a fluttery lash look.
Step 5: Prime lips with a bit of foundation for a truly nude, matte base. Then apply SheaMoisture Lip Crayon in Calixta.
