From super sleek ponytails to romantic waves, intricate updos and accessories, New York Fashion Week’s Fall 2017 season gave us all the feels. Models dominated the catwalk in trends that have undeniably set the tone for a stylish spring and summer season!
So, how do we take those hairstyles from the runway to real life? Utilizing three of our favorite looks, I’ve constructed foolproof how-tos that are easy to mimic on textured hair.
The first look, from Tracy Reese’s Fall 2017 presentation, stood out because of the juxtaposition of textures:
How to recreate this look:
1. Begin with freshly washed, conditioned and blow dried hair. Be sure to leave the ends untouched
2. Prep your hair with a styling product that will moisturize and add some sheen, such as Cantu’s Conditioning Creamy Hair Lotion ($11, walgreens.com)
3. Using a rattail comb, create a middle part down the center of your head, ending at the crown region.
4. Starting on the right side of your head, smooth down that section behind the ear with a brush and firm hold, alcohol-free gel. Be sure not to disturb the texture at the bottom.
5. Repeat step four on the left side of your head.
6. Place a small satin scarf around the perimeter of the head for about 15-20 minutes.,
7. Take off the scarf and voila- you’re done!
Maki Oh’s “french braid surprise” is up next. Two french braids seem simple enough, right? What took this style to the next level were the left out textured ends, that offered a unique surprise we totally obsessed over!

Lastly, Alice + Olivia’s so fresh and so clean, messy milkmaid braids left us daydreaming about all of the outfits we can rock with this effortless style!
