Jennifer Hudson isn’t just known for her soulful voice, she’s also known for slaying short hair and it’s clear now where she gets her inspiration from. The singer and actress commemorated her 35th birthday on Tuesday with an old-school glamour look inspired by her favorite photo of her late mother, Darnell Donnerson.
In an Instagram post, the Broadway star donned a Dreamgirls-esque ‘do identical to the one seen in this precious throwback photo.
Reflected on how her mother would have reacted to her turning another year older, Hudson captioned the photo, “She would have said my baby, my baby is 35 now!”

Donnerson was tragically murdered eight years ago by Hudson’s brother-in-law William Balfour. Balfour is serving life in prison.
We can’t believe it either. It seems like it was only yesterday that the singer made her 2004 debut on American Idol. Happy birthday JHud!
