Every weekend as I’m scrolling through my feed and Insta-stalking the celebrities and influencers that I fangirl for, I come across something interesting and inspiring in the beauty space. From jaw-dropping transformations to drool-inducing hair, there’s always something that I can’t stop staring at or watching, and it instantly garners a double-tap.
This past weekend trendspotting got the best of me as I came across a Black hair look that was prominent on the runways of New York Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago. While the photo is a little creepy because there’s just an eye staring at you, and that’s odd, you can’t help but focus on the cute exaggerated baby hair adorned with rhinestones and pearls on this post by Shela Hair (@shelahair).
Last week we talked about exaggerated baby hair being a trend that we’re excited to try right now and clearly we weren’t far off. I’m vocal about my struggle with my edges, so I can admit that baby hair trends are typically not my thing. But this is so cute that it makes me want to get it together and grow out these edges so that I can try this. I love the pearls especially, which I think add a classic and elegant touch to the style.
This could be done with the exaggerated baby hair pin curls we saw from Yusef Williams at the Savage X Fenty show. If this can be done with a lace front, this can definitely be executed well with baby’s own baby hair. The trick is to get beads that are flat on one side. And a healthy hair adhesive that won’t damage your delicate edges is key. Oh the possibilities. Those trendy pearl clips and combs have officially met their match.
