A new scripted drama series is bringing everything we loved about the iconic
Soul Train-era to the small screen.
Set in the 70s and infused with all the elements that made the time period a truly unforgettable one for all things Black culture, BET’s
American Soul will take viewers inside the world of
Soul Train creator, Don Cornelius.
The 10-episode series will chronicle the highs and lows of what was happening behind the scenes for Cornelius, his staff and the beloved
Soul Train dancers as they took the entire world on a ride that changed history.
The series will reportedly star Sinqua Walls as Don Cornelius, while Kelly Price, Katlyn Nichol, Iantha Richardson, Jason Dirden, Jelani Winston and Christopher Jefferson are among the additional cast members.
The series will also guest star songstress
Kelly Rowland, who will portray soul music icon, Gladys Knight.
American Soul premieres February 5 at 9 p.m. ET on BET. Check out the first teaser trailer for the series above.
