How did you meet? Chidiebere and I met somewhat serendipitously on Christmas day in 2013. Our dads went to grade school together. When his sister moved to my city, she was encouraged to contact me, so she added me on Facebook. I was almost instantly intrigued by pictures of her brother. Lo and behold, he friended me three days later. We’ve spoken every day since then!

How did you meet? I met him on campus in the student union building. My friends and I were taking a study break to get snacks when I saw him. The first thing I noticed about him was his hair.

How did you meet? We met in the 10th grade. I had just transferred schools and was new to his math class. We were doing class work and he walked up to me and started playing in my hair. He said my curls gave him “life!” I think he knew my hair before he knew my name.

How did you meet? He was home from Afghanistan, after being in the desert for almost nine months, enjoying a night out to celebrate his brother’s birthday. I was there checking out the love interest of my cousin to see if he made the cut! We crossed paths at the birthday party and spoke a few words. He flew out the very next day but did manage to have his email passed to me. We emailed casually back and forth for a few weeks until things got real. We had a video chat for the first time and then the very next day and almost every day after. It was almost a missed connection. Steve Jobs changed our lives!

How did you meet? I met Justin by chance at church one day. I wasn’t planning to go to that church but decided I just wanted a change of scenery. We were both alone but he spotted me. Several months later he spotted me on Facebook and sent me a message explaining he was so nervous when we first met. We went out on two dates and the rest is history.

How did you meet? We used to chat causally online for about two years. We went to the same university, but shad never met. However one random night we just decided to meet and have a drink. The following day we went to the south coast of Jamaica for an amazing day. We haven’t been apart since.

How did you meet your beau? We met in 2001 at a bowling party thrown by a mutual friend. We’ve been inseparable for almost 15 years. He has always encouraged me to wear my Fro and he also encouraged me to start a YouTube channel dedicated to helping others through their natural hair journeys. He does all of the editing, producing and filming.

How did you meet? I live in the Netherlands and my boyfriend lives in London. We met on a night out in Amsterdam, he was with a friend and so was I. We hung out all night, playing drinking games and telling stories. In the morning my friend and I left to catch our first train home and the boys got ready to fly back to London. After two weeks he decided he had to see me again, and he booked a ticket to visit me in Amsterdam the weekend of February 14th. Once he walked through the gates I couldn’t be happier, we hugged and I knew it felt good. This was exactly where we belonged.

How did you meet? We met on my first trip to Washington D.C. on April 28, 2013. I remember the moment I first spotted Neil at a club; I thought he was a handsome black man with locs. Not long after I felt someone sneaking up behind me, and yes, of course it was him. We had a long-distance relationship until March 2014, when I decided to move to D.C. to be with him. We’re now married and are expecting a baby girl. We couldn’t be happier!

How did you meet? I met my husband in December 2009 at the TLA venue on South Street in Philly. Kevin is a singer/songwriter and at the time was the opening act for a well known Irish band known as The Script. At the end of the nights performances, Kevin and his band would stand at the back of the venue and sign CD’s. I walked back to get a CD signed and truthfully, it was love at first sight. How did you meet? I met my beau at McDonalds at four o’clock in the morning. Raymond saw me and asked one of his friends if I looked good and his friend said I was “too skinny.” He talked to me anyway and was pretty persistent so I decided to give him my actual number. How did you meet? In 2003, we were working a summer job at a pool selling company. As I was walking to the time clock he stopped me and told me I was pretty. Eventually we exchanged numbers, but only spoke at work. On election day (2004 Bush vs. Kerry), he sent me a text message reminding me to vote.
